Southern California’s Disneyland Resort has just announced the imminent return of its immensely popular autumnal celebrations, including Halloween Time offerings throughout the resort, as well as ‘Plaza de la Familia’ festivities at Disney California Adventure Park and the after-hours event’ Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party’.
Disneyland Resort’s spooky-season transformations, including incredibly spirited décor, seasonal attractions overlays, special character appearances, limited-time merchandise, and food and beverage offerings are set to materialize on September 1 and continue through October 31, 2023.
At Disneyland Park, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and some of their pals will be sporting some bewitching new apparel, with outfits that cast a ghostly glow thanks to luminescent fabrics and bat detailing.
In New Orleans Square, Jack Skellington and his cohorts from ‘Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas’ will once again take up seasonal residence in an overlay of the Haunted Mansion to create the fan-favorite “Haunted Mansion Holiday” attraction. The entire exterior and interior of the estate will be eerily transfigured, and the annual installation of a bespoke gingerbread house will grace the table of the ghostly ballroom.
Each night through October 31, the spine-tingling exhilaration of Disneyland’s “Halloween Screams” nighttime spectacular will delight crowds gathered in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle and Main Street, U.S.A., along the Rivers of America and in front of “it’s a small world” with dynamic projections, special effects, a rousing musical score and, on select nights, fireworks conjured in the skies above the park.

Over at Disney California Adventure Park, a trio of attractions will receive seasonal overlays as part of the Halloween Time transformation.
In Cars Land, the family-friendly Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree will become Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, while nearby Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters takes guests on a wicked whirl as Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween. Throughout the area, resident “car-acters” can be seen sporting their delightfully ghoulish Halloween “car-stumes” for the occassion.
At the nearby Avengers Campus, Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction transforms after 4:00 p.m. into Guardians of the Galaxy - Monsters After Dark. In this scream-worthy after-hours scenario, Rocket Raccoon recruits guests to help him rescue Baby Groot from within the Collector's Fortress, where a horde of menacing monsters have escaped their cells and are running amok.
From September 1 through November 2, Disney California Adventure Park’s Paradise Gardens area will host a special celebration called "Plaza de la Familia", held in the spirit of Día de los Muertos, the Latin American holiday that honors departed loved ones and the everlasting bonds of family. The colorful Disney animated film “Coco” serves as inspiration for this celebration’s décor, live entertainment, character appearances, crafts and special menu items.

Fall-season fun for the whole family will also include a separately ticketed, limited-capacity event, called Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party, which is set to take over Disney California Adventure Park more nights this year than ever before. On 25 select nights between September 5 through October 31 the after-hours party will welcome guests of all ages to put on their Halloween costumes and wickedly awesome evening of attractions, entertainment, special food and beverages, and more.
