Once upon a time, in the era of awesome known as the 1990s, there was a ride that was so amazing it invented a word: Funtastic.
The closing of another week means it's time to once again embrace nostalgia like that jean jacket in the back of your closet that seemed like such a wise decision years ago.
This week we take a look at a gem from Universal Studios Florida's past called The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera, which treated fans to so many iconic characters that the mesmerizing ride itself seems a bit unnecessary. Simply seeing this many cartoon characters is enough to knock us back in our seat.
First, let's take a look at a promotional video that is so 90s it may as well come via rental at Blockbuster Video.
A couple of decades ago, marketing gurus decided the best way to capture audience's attention, namely those of a younger demographic, was to have some kid scream at you from the television screen while flashing lights flicker all around.
We have to say, it still works, because we would love to ride this attraction.

The Universal Studios Wiki offers a great deal more information on the ride that lived at Universal Studios Florida from June 1990 until it closed in 2002.
The website states: "The storyline was that Dick Dastardly (of Wacky Races fame) has kidnapped Elroy Jetson, Yogi Bear gives chase and the audience is in for the ride of their lives."
Of course, Muttley and Boo Boo play a big part in the adventure that also features cameos from Fred Flintsone, Barney Rubble, Shaggy, Scooby-Doo and the Jetsons.
It's a quick, chaotic ride deep into the Hanna-Barbera universe.
Thankfully, Yogi saves the day, which we still say deserves a lifetime supply of picnic baskets.
