LEGOLAND
New York Resort is overhauling the traditional definition of PTO (Paid Time
Off) by introducing a new and novel concept: “Play Time Off”. From today, the new
marketing initiative invites parents to commit to spending their time off at LEGOLAND
New York with their families this summer.
By being among the
first 10,000 pledges on the 'Take the Play Time
Off' website, participants earn a chance to win complimentary "parents
play free" entry codes for use in the Park, allowing parents to enjoy a
day filled with all kinds of play without worrying about the extra expense.
In a further bid
to showcase the joy and importance of family playtime, LEGOLAND New York has
enlisted the help of three "Pros of Play" from the world of
professional football: Parris Campbell Jr. (New York), Brandon Graham (Philadelphia)
and Matthew Slater (New England). In the company of their families, these big-name
athletes will headline the inaugural "Pros of Play Day" on April 6.
These pro players and
their families with demonstrate the ultimate way to experience the Park, spotlighting
the importance of taking time out to create memorable moments with their loved
ones. During this special event, they will compete in a first-of-its-kind
playoff by engaging in a series of games and challenges scattered throughout
the Park.
In-Park Challenges
Include:
- Dance-off v. LEGOLAND Costume
Character – Battle it out to see who has the grooviest moves
- Fire Academy – Power a LEGO fire
engine to see which pro family can put out the "fire" first
- Blindfold Build – Each Pro is guided
by his family to build a LEGO model…blindfolded
- Find Mr. Gold – A scavenger-hunt race
through LEGO City to find a special Minifigure pop badge
"These guys
play for a living—so who better to inspire parents to take a little extra Play
Time Off this summer than our favorite pros?" said Divisional Director of
LEGOLAND New York, Stephanie Johnson. "But you don't have to be a
professional to experience the power of play. Every day here at LEGOLAND New
York, we see what happens when families come together and get lost in their own
imaginations. It's such a special experience for both parents and kids, so we
wanted to make it even easier for more families to experience that at LEGOLAND
this 2024 season."

All sorts of
families can also join in the playoff frivolity on Friday, April 26, which
LEGOLAND New York has designated its official "Play Time Off Day" at
the Park. Kids and parents visiting that day can compete in the exciting
challenges themselves and then share their favorite experiences on Instagram
for a chance to win the ultimate play pack.
Moreover, a recent
study commissioned by Opinium on behalf of LEGOLAND revealed the benefits of
play, not only for families looking to enjoy magical moments together, but also
in the workplace. A survey of 100 U.S. CEOs showed that:
- 68 percent say that parents tend to be
more creative in the workplace because they play with their kids.
- 79 percent say that play positively
impacts innovation and culture in the workplace
- 66 percent would consider benefits
that encourage employees to play more, including time off to play
- 94 percent say that play can help to reduce
employee burnout
As LEGOLAND New
York gears up for the 2024 season, which opens March 27, families are encouraged to pledge their
