You can hashtag a tweet, an image on Instagram or something you are discussing with friends if you want to be unbelievably insufferable. Today we learned that you can also hashtag an entire city.
Laughing Squid's Brian Heater brings a vibrant, pulsating video to our attention. While posted to Vimeo three weeks ago, this work from Polish filmmaker Piotr Wancerz simply has to be seen by those who may have missed it:

Wancerz explains on Vimeo:
"A few months ago I was invited to make a video of New York City. We spent amazing time exploring the city, walking through those crowdy streets and parks, making thousands of pictures, trying to catch the energy of the city that never sleeps, just to pass it along to you later in a video project that we decided to call simply: #NYC."
We here love time-lapse videos, especially in the context of familiar and rather iconic cities. While millions traipse through New York City, they rarely get to see the sights from this vantage.
Infusing the video with a hashtag is a clever twist on a popular filming technique. Like countless tourists who might hashtag similar to their social media devices, model Roza Puzynowska is dropping an octothorpe as the frantic pace of a living city whizzes by.
From moonwalking at night in Times Square to providing a brooding look at Central Park, Wancerz captures nearly every emotive aspect of an insomniac city.
Sometimes there is far too much to see when visiting a city like New York. That is, unless, you are armed with a magical hashtag that can seemingly capture all of the action.
