In a perfect world we would have the force flow through us as if our name was Skywalker. Our best friends would be droids and our weapon would be a lightsaber.
Short of waking up on Tatooine, we will take what ever Disney decides to give us.
Variety's Marc Graser gives us an update of sorts on Star Wars-themed rides and attractions coming to Disney parks in the future.
According to Graser, Disney chief Bob Iger told Wall Street analysts there was "a fair amount of design and development (taking place by the company's Imagineers) to greatly increase 'Star Wars' presence in multiple locations around the world."
Iger reportedly continued, "The plans are ambitious, so it's going to take some time for them to be built and opened."
This is the equivalent of your parent telling you to wait to open your presents while they go get the camera. Unfortunately, our wait will be longer.
In a separate interview, Iger proclaimed, "Fairly soon, I'm sure we'll be ready to go public with some specifics. But it's safe to say that you'll see a lot more 'Star Wars' at Disney and at Disney parks in the near future."
This follows an earlier article where we stated more news would be coming in this regard in 2015. It seems it will be a bit later in 2015 however.
And so we know we are getting more Star Wars attractions at Disney Parks outside of Star Tours; we just don't know the what or the when.
Well here is our chance to sculpt that perfect world at a Disney theme park. Here is what we would love to see at some point in our lives. Feel free to toss your suggestions out there too.
Speeder Bikes:
With similar technology employed by Star Tours, this ride might ask a visitor to hop on a bike and jettison away from oncoming Storm Troopers.
Thankfully Storm Troopers aim about as well as Wookies hold conversations. Just watch out for Ewoks.
Podracing:
If the prequels gave us anything worthwhile it was double-bladed lightsabers and podracing. The latter even gave us a darn fine video game.
In any case, podracing in some form has to see its day at Disneyland if only to test our mettle against that slimeball, Sebulba.
Heavy lightsaber play:
Um, that there is a demo featuring the Oculus Rift and a controller that allows for a full-on Jedi experience.
Imagine picking an opponent as if this were some "Galaxy far, far away" version of Street Fighter.
You step into some pod, don the headgear and pick you opponent to recreate a classic battle:
You could test your talent against Sith Lords and Jedi Knights. We don't care if they are canon or not, because if we are dreaming we simply have to battle Darth Bane once and for all.
Snowspeeder:
Despite all of the wonderful Hoth levels in video games, we simply can't get enough of shooting a tow cable at an AT-AT.
Imagine you and a friend riding tandem in a snowspeeder as you engage giant walkers. Now that armor is of course too thick for blasters, so you know what to do.
Mos Eisely Cantina:
All of this fun is bound to make you tired, so we hope Disney does well to include a respite for its tourists.
The only one that makes sense is the Mos Eisley Cantina with the classic tune playing on loop 24 hours a day. This will also afford us the opportunity to find out who really shoots first.
Skywalker Free Fall:
Aside from getting his hand sliced off and hanging dangerously below Cloud City, Luke Skywalker had one heck of a great ride down what looks to be the galaxy's best slide.
Forget Space Mountain, we want to fall from the Bespin tunnel of death.
Millennium Falcon Battles:
Lastly, we would love to strap in and go right at screaming TIE Fighters trying to take us down.
Really, we would just settle for setting foot aboard a mere replica of the iconic and completely amazing Millennium Falcon. We don't care if the hyperdrive is working or not.
And those make up our wish list for Disney. Consider this the missive that is posted with stamps and mailed off to officials who we will just assume take our suggestions and grant us these tiny little things.
