Amateur TSA officials with a few thousand to burn this holiday season can go ahead and rejoice, because you can order a body scanner from eBay.
Now you can bring long, annoying lines to the family room with TSA: Home Edition.
Those with a few moments to spend on a peculiar posting can head on over to eBay to see all of the precious details listed for the "Rapiscan Secure 1000 SP (Single Pose) Backscatter Body Scanner X-Ray."(h/t Yahoo! Travel)
The scanner is coming from Chattanooga (Tenn.) and is sold by user GovSurplus2012 at one hell of a deal.
If you believe the post-and we aren't sure why you wouldn't-these babies usually go for a whopping $113,000. But it can now be yours for the bargain basement price of $7,995.
At that price we are now considering knocking down our front wall to feature this as a conversation piece at the front of the house.
The item's description features a laundry list of cool aspects of this scanner, including: "Front and Back Scanning for Comprehensive Threat Detection: The Secure 1000 SP generates a front and back scan simultaneously, which eliminates blind spots and potential opportunities for concealment, thereby increasing checkpoint security."
If that's not enough you should consider the ability to conceal ceramics: "Advanced Imaging Detects Range of Threats: The Secure 1000 SP can detect small objects and threats concealed on a passenger. It can detect organic and inorganic threats, metals and non-metallic objects. With one system, customers can detect concealed liquids, ceramics, weapons, plastic explosives, narcotics, metals, contraband, currency etc."
We can't wait to make sure our pals aren't concealing ceramic vases on their person.
A 2010 video highlights the reasons Rapiscan scanners are all the rage:
With your nearly $8,000 you can tell pals that you have the same scanner technology used in Her Majesty's Prison Service.
There is also the comfort that comes in knowing GovSurplus2012 has fine reviews on the website and has sold such hits as an RV camper trailer, a breathing apparatus and a floor polisher.
Now they are letting go of the one gift to please the extremely paranoid person in your life. Forget Amazon or the mall, we know where we are shopping this holiday season.
