Walt Disney World Restaurant Receives Theme Park’s First-Ever Michelin Star

The Victoria & Albert’s restaurant inside the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is the first Walt Disney World restaurant to be awarded a coveted MICHELIN Star for its outstanding cooking. 

Local news station, FOX 35 Orlando, covered the news. Victoria & Albert’s joins ten other Florida restaurants celebrating recent MICHELIN Star acquisitions. The restaurant, which focuses on contemporary fine dining with a three-hour, multi-course meal, is led by Chef Matthew Sowers.

Sowers was mentored by James Beard “Best Chef in the South'' nominee Chef Scott Hunne. Maître d’Hôtel Israel Pérez won the 2024 Florida Service Award for his dedication and excellent service. 

According to the MICHELIN guide, “Chef Matthew Sowers cooks with contemporary verve and draws on influences spanning from Asia to the Nordics. Think delicate tarts set with New Zealand langoustine, striking ‘sandwiches’ made with venison carpaccio and red cabbage, and bold sauces like cherry-cola bordelaise. Other details like water lists, an ornate coffee and tea service, and a serious wine program further impress.”

Victoria & Albert’s is the first Disney restaurant to be awarded a MICHELIN Star; there are only around 200 MICHELIN-starred restaurants in the U.S. alone, and only Victoria & Albert’s is located in a theme park.
