It's been 56 years since the beloved film Breakfast at Tiffany's hit the big screen.
And in the half-decade since, countless visitors to New York have been disappointed to learn that you cannot, in fact, have breakfast inside the iconic jeweler that has graced Fifth Avenue for more than 180 years.
Not even Audrey Hepburn's character, Holly Golightly, dined inside the store. Instead, she nibbled on a croissant and sipped her coffee while eyeing the merchandise from outside the retail location.
Now, however, all that has changed.
On Friday, the famed retailer opened its first-ever retail dining concept-The Blue Box Café, as part of a renovation of its fourth floor, which now houses Tiffany & Co.'s new luxury Home & Accessories collection of "elevated everyday objects."
"Both the café and redesign of the Home & Accessories floor reflect a modern luxury experience," said Reed Krakoff, chief artistic officer, Tiffany & Co. "The space is experimental and experiential-a window into the new Tiffany."
Naturally, the robin's nest blue, trademarked as Tiffany Blue®, for which the jeweler is known, is used as a unifying motif throughout the newly designed floor, including splashes throughout the café.
According to a press release by Tiffany & Co., the new café will serve a simple menu of American classics, which will change and evolve with the seasons, and offer a "refined take on signature New York dishes, reinvented to be uniquely Tiffany."
While many retailers struggle with luring consumers away from their computers and mobile devices, the new café at Tiffany & Co. appears to be a hit.

The opening was so popular that for many it turned into Lunch at Tiffany's as lines snaked down the street on opening day. Some patrons reportedly had to wait hours to score a space at the 40-seat eatery.
Breakfast, reported the New York Times, includes coffee or tea, a croissant, seasonal fruit and a choice of entree, including a buttermilk waffle, smoked salmon and bagel stack, truffle eggs or avocado toast.
As of opening day, the Café offers a $29 breakfast, a $39 lunch and a $49 high tea, according to the New York Daily News.
Of course, New York has no lack of dining options. So once you've lived out your Audrey Hepburn fantasies, be sure to check out these romantic restaurants or soak up a view of the city's skyline from these tasty eateries.
