Wellness Travelers
Panama is emerging as a locale for top-tier wellness vacations, thanks to new destination spas opening in the country’s most striking regions. Last fall, Hotel La Compañía del Valle, located in Panama’s volcanic highland region of El Valle de Antón and part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, opened its sweeping Elysium Spa & Wellness House. The space measures 22,000 square feet and has striking architectural details like arched ceilings made from local volcanic stone. All guests have access to a Himalayan salt room, aromatherapy steam room, mud therapy room, hot tub, and a sensory deprivation pool. “Immersive” suites offer body treatments with local ingredients like cacao, pomegranate, volcanic Jejú Jolitdaecha extract, bamboo, and Panama’s famous Geisha coffee.
In January, another destination spa off of Panama’s coast opened at Nayara Bocas del Toro, a private island resort with two Michelin Keys. The property’s new Treehouse Colibri Spa is housed inside a 50-foot tall bamboo structure in the middle of a tropical forest. Three connecting treatment pavilions offer a menu of massages and skincare experiences with coffee and cacao.

Travelers looking to reconnect with nature this spring break season can lose themselves among the desert wonders surrounding Palm Springs. There’s no shortage of outdoor activities in the area, with plenty of hiking and sightseeing in the surrounding deserts, parks, and canyons. Get your fill of the desert’s unique land formations by taking a Jeep tour through the area’s nature reserves, then head out to neighboring Joshua Tree National Park, where you can hike among the namesake ancient trees and get up close to one-of-a-kind landmarks like Arch Rock.
In addition to its myriad outdoor activities, Palm Springs is seeing a spike in popularity thanks to a wave of new hotels.
