Karisma Hotels & Resorts has incorporated all the facilities of Generations Maroma, which catered to multi-generational families, into those of its adjacent sister property, the adults-only El Dorado Maroma in Mexico's Riviera Maya.
According to Karisma, the decision to disband the Generations concept at Maroma was based on the ever-growing popularity of the El Dorado property.
"We added the suites, restaurants and bars from Generations Maroma to meet overwhelming demand for El Dorado Maroma," said Rafael Feliz Jr., corporate brand manager at Karisma Hotels & Resorts. "We are excited to offer couples these additional options at El Dorado Maroma and look forward to welcoming families to our nearby Generations Riviera Maya, which has become an increasingly popular destination in our portfolio."
The much-larger Generations Riviera Maya, with 144 suites, adjoins the adults-only El Dorado Royale Riviera Maya and El Dorado Casitas.
The loss of the Generations property at Maroma is El Dorado's gain. Generation's portfolio of accommodations include 25 generously sized one-, two- and three-bedrooms suites set in a five-story building, as well as a two-level villa, which at 10,500 feet, is equipped with five bedrooms and a second-floor infinity pool.
Other former Generations facilities that are now incorporated into El Dorado Maroma include a brand-new Peruvian restaurant, Lima Limon; Chakay, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner; the Caribbean Grill Restaurant & Terrace; Joe's Lounge & Bar, serving hors d'oeuvres and cocktails; and the beachfront Sunset Bar featuring rooftop seating.
The expansion of El Dorado Maroma, meanwhile, isn't over. As reported, plans are underway to debut 58 over-water infinity pool suites, all of which will feature infinity pools and glass-bottom floors. The new suites are expected to come online later this year.
