It’s that time of year again: Michelin has revealed the select group of hotels worthy of One, Two or Three Keys.
This year marks the second ever announcement of Michelin Keys in the United States and a selection of luxury hotels from across the country have been added to last year's crop of top-ranked hotels.
What's more, this year's list of the most outstanding hotels coast-to-coast comes four years into what Michelin describes as a “comprehensive refresh” of its hotel selection. The Michelin Guide now includes more than 5,000 hotels across the world, and the taste-making review company says not a single hotel on its list could be viewed as “simply a room for the night.”
“These are places that significantly add to your experience as a traveler, each vetted and judged excellent in five categories: architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and a significant contribution to the guest experience in a particular setting,” says Michelin.
Earning a key from Michelin, of course, is no small accomplishment (as Michelin sought to underscore in this year’s announcement.) Key awards are the culmination of countless hours of evaluation by Michelin’s team of experts.
So which properties made the cut?
Notable among this year’s list - five new hotels and resorts joined Michelin’s exclusive Three Key club. And of those additions, three properties are located in the American West. They are: Sage Lodge in Montana, Amangiri in Utah, and Canyon Ranch Tucson in Arizona.
"Each [of these hotels] makes use of the region's inspiring landscape, with Canyon Ranch and Amangiri both set amidst spectacular desert landscapes,” said Michelin in its announcement.
Southern hospitality also scored big in this year’s list of entrants to the Key club. Austin, Texas and Charleston, South Carolina added 15 new Key hotels between them.
Michelin described this accomplishment as "a fitting monument to two cities oft-cited among the fastest-growing in the United States,” adding that "The hospitality scene has kept up, with gems like the Commodore Perry Estate (Austin) and the Dewberry (Charleston) folding their buildings’ own histories into their delightful luxury boutique sensibilities.”
So without further ado, here are the hotels that have earned a slot at the top of the distinguished list - earning Two or Three Keys list for 2024.
