The Victorian-era Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, California has completed its over $550 restoration.

According to Marriott and Blackstone Real Estate, the entire property received much-needed care and revitalization, with a restoration of its front porch and lobby, main entry and drive, Victorian guest rooms, garden courtyard and event spaces, including the Crown Room.

The restoration focused on historical accuracy, with partnerships with Wimberly Interiors, WATG, GSB Inc., Burton Studios and David Marshall of Heritage Architecture & Planning.

“From its earliest days, Hotel del Coronado has been a pioneer, continuously redefining the resort experience,” said JP Oliver, managing director, Hotel del Coronado. “After this transformative journey, we are proud to set a new benchmark for resort excellence and continue exceeding expectations for a new era of guests and visitors.”

The newly renovated Victorian guest rooms provide more modern features while keeping Victorian aesthetics, with brighter color palettes and deep wood tones. Bathrooms offer checkerboard marble flooring, vanities inspired by antique washstands and more.

Additionally, the hotel also debuts two new dining venues, the Nobu Del Coronado and Veranda.

The Veranda restaurant is an homage to the original 1,800 feet of veranda that once graced the curve of the hotel when it originally opened. It features locally sourced ingredients in classic American dishes.

Nobu Del Coronado, on the other hand, offers Nobu-signature dishes and California-inspired treats, like Tai Sweet Shiso. The restaurant offers an indoor-outdoor experience and 3,700 square feet of oceanfront dining space.

Those looking to host weddings or other events at Hotel del Coronado will enjoy the newly restored Crown Room, Cornet Room and Ocean Ballroom. Featuring original wood floors, wood finishes, wainscoting, doors and frescoes, each venue immerses guests in the past, while also providing updated technology.

Lastly, the hotel’s Victorian Garden courtyard has returned to its original plan, with historic walkways, pergolas and the return of the Naiad Queen Fountain, which was a part of the courtyard until 1912. Even the plants have been inspired by the Victorian Era, with bromeliads, camellias, hydrangeas and other species popular during that time.

Hotel del Coronado is part of the Curio Collection by Hilton and LXR Hotels & Resorts, and is also a National Historic Landmark.
