Universal Orlando Resort and Loews Hotels & Resorts announced the expansion of Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort Monday, revealing that 400 new rooms will be added to the hotel.
The expansion will feature two towers, which will begin accommodating guests in 2017.
Some of the rooms in the new towers will also feature views of Universal's Volcano Bay water park, which is also scheduled to open in 2017.
Cabana Bay, which first opened to guests in March 2014, is a retro-themed resort with amenities that include zero-entry pools, a waterslide, a lazy river and a 10-lane bowling alley.
The resort also boasts 900 standard guest rooms and 900 family suites already, meaning there will be a total of 2,200 rooms available once the latest expansion projected is completed in 2017.
The new towers will be constructed at the south end of the resort, adjacent to the existing Continental and Americana guest towers.
In addition to the Cabana Bay expansion and Volcano Bay, Universal Orlando is also set to open the 1,000-room Sapphire Falls hotel in 2016. Therefore, by 2017, Universal will have 5,600 rooms available.
