Social Media Buzzes With Responses to NYC Bombing

On Saturday, a bomb exploded in Seaside Park and another in New York's Chelsea neighborhood.

Social media offered a glimpse of the overall reaction from the region and for a nation that continues to move and travel amid troubling times. As many stated at the time on Saturday, panic and disorder were, thankfully, at an absolute minimum.

Nate Silver had this to offer via Twitter.

There's really not a lot to see/hear. Just saying: scale of this seems modest on the scene, not major-international-incident type of thing.

While an initial reaction to the weekend's series of explosions and bomb discoveries, Silver states that New York was calm on September 17. This is not, in any way, to say that the series of events weren't absolutely horrifying to those injured or in any way affected by the explosions, but it's worth noting the stark social media response between those in and outside of the city.
