The famous Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas opened its doors in 1957, but at 2:30 a.m. local time on Wednesday morning, the building was demolished to clear way for a new baseball stadium.

The legendary property was known for its pool, waterfalls, long-running show (Folies Bergere), and celebrities, which graced the hotel until its closure in 2009. The land will be cleared and used to build the new A's ballpark.
As a result of the planned implosion of the Tropicana, the I-15 freeway ramps near the hotel will be closed Wednesday morning, along with Las Vegas Boulevard from Harmon to Hacienda, and Tropicana Avenue from Dean Martin to Koval, according to Fox
5 Las Vegas.

When asked about the importance of the Tropicana, a performer who spent 15 years working at the facility told Fox 5 Las Vegas:
"It was just so much fun. You could watch the laser light show, dancing fountain show. There was something to do constantly, and it was just the hip place to be.”
