Young adult tour operator Contiki is offering a first-ever travel style for those who love run clubs.
The Run Club travel style currently offers two itineraries to Europe offering young adults aged 18-35 the opportunity to experience it on their own two feet, connecting with other runners in a fun club format.
Run clubs have grown extremely popular: Strava’s trends report from last year showed a 59 percent increase in global participation in run clubs. Gen Z adults are also four times more likely to meet people through fitness than in more traditional settings, like bars.
In 2025, Contiki will offer two distinct Run Club trips, both offering limited availability with one departure each.
European Highlights departs August 25 for a two-week-long journey offering morning runs in the Beaujolais Wine Region, French Riviera, Amsterdam, Monaco, Tuscany, Edam and Pisa. Travelers will also enjoy wine tastings, cycling and more.
The European Whirl Plus is a 19-day journey departing September 7 and offering experiences like jogging in Berlin, Prague and Tyrol, while relaxing with gondola rides in Venice, a wine tasting in Lucerne and visiting some cultural attractions like Roman ruins, the Dresden Opera House and the Berlin Wall.
“Run Clubs represent more than a fitness trend for our 18-35 audience– they’re a way to connect, explore, and build community in an increasingly fragmented, online world,” says Contiki CEO Adam Armstrong. “The appetite for active trips with Contiki is increasing as bookings on our active itineraries surged 105% from 2023 to 2024. Whether along the Mediterranean coastline in France or through Austria’s breathtaking Alps - group runs always emerged as trip highlights.”
