Delta Air Lines revealed the new uniforms Tuesday that around 64,000 employees will wear in airplanes, airports, and hangars across the world.
Created by fashion designer Zac Posen, the Lands' End quality uniforms embrace innovative fit, form, and function, as well as make a bold statement by elevating Delta through glamour and sophistication.
The introduction of the new uniforms comes after years of designing and developing, as well as three months of extensive testing by an estimated 1,000 Delta employees in different roles. The Zac Posen and Lands' End design teams eventually made more than 170 changes before perfecting the uniforms.
"We are happy to provide this level of quality, style and global sophistication to the professional men and women who represent Delta so well every day," Delta CEO Ed Bastian said in a statement. "The new Delta uniform collection offers unity between all workgroups like never before. We are one proud Delta team and it really shows."
"These uniforms were built to keep Delta employees safe, comfortable and always ready to fly," Lands' End CEO Jerome Griffith said. "We're honored that Delta turned to Lands' End for our legendary service, style, and quality to outfit their employees worldwide. Our talented team drew inspiration from Posen's designs to create cohesive styles for Delta's below-wing employees while producing both collections with meticulous attention to detail in high-quality, innovative fabrics and materials."
For the last 30 years, Delta's uniforms have been navy and red, but the changes now focus on the new regal shades of Passport Plum, Cruising Cardinal, Groundspeed Graphite, Traveling Thistle and Skyline Slate.
For above-wing and below-wing employees, durable fabrics and options were chosen to help prevent issues, including ripstop, high-stretch, wrinkle-and-stain-resistant, water repellant and waterproof, deodorizing, windproof, anti-static and moisture-wicking properties.
