Carnival
Cruise Line has announced its second summer ‘Fun-ternship’ program giving
more than 100 students ages 17 and older a personal hands-on experience in cruise
terminal operations.
Following the success of its summer 2025 internship, the youth
program will take place in six U.S. homeports to include Baltimore, Tampa,
Jacksonville, Norfolk, New York City and Long Beach.
During the eight-week program, students will get a
behind-the-scenes look at Carnival Cruise operations at port while exploring
careers in travel and hospitality. The fun-terns will support embarkation-day
operations alongside port service team members with hands-on training and mentorship,
gaining exposure to a range of roles all while earning an hourly wage.
The program
completion culminates in a ship tour and special onboard luncheon with Carnival
leaders.
“After seeing the enthusiasm, growth and pride of last
year’s Fun-terns, we’re excited to bring this opportunity back and continue
helping students develop confidence, leadership skills and real-world
experience in an industry that plays an important role in their local economy,”
said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line in a statement.
Eligible students living in participating homeport
communities are encouraged to apply. Applications are now open through June 8, 2026,
with a limited number of positions available. The eight-week program will run
between June and August, with exact dates varying by homeport city.
