Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings is growing its presence in Texas.
The cruise company and Galveston Wharves have agreed to a 10-year contract that will allow Norwegian’s brands to use the new terminal at the port. The $100 million terminal—the fourth at the port—is slated to open in November 2025.
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings will have three years of seasonal operations at the port. Then, it will homeport there full-time. Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva are slated to sail from Galveston in the near future, offering Western Caribbean itineraries.
“This development allows us to continue serving our guests in the region and surrounding areas, further strengthening our presence in this important market,” says Juan Kuryla, senior vice president of port development & construction for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. “Also, by leveraging Galveston’s strategic position as a key turnaround port, we’re not only expanding opportunities for all three of our brands—Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises—but also creating meaningful benefits for the local community, supporting jobs, tourism and economic growth.”
