Majestic mountains surrounding blue fjords, the magnificent Northern Lights, and a rich presence of history and art are some of the many highlights of a trip to scenic Norway.

Whether it is nature or the culture you’re after, Norway has something for everyone to enjoy.

See The Northern Lights

We found that one of the best places to see the magical Northern Lights is in the northern region of Norway.

The ideal time to visit for a chance of spotting them is between November and February, at the peak of winter.

There are a few cities in the north from where the spectacular lights might be visible, but one of the best places to go for this is Tromsø.

Munch Museum

One of the most famous Norwegian painters is undoubtedly Edward Munch. To view his impressive collection of works in one place, we recommend paying a visit to the Munch Museum in Oslo.

Most people will recognize ‘The Scream’ as Munch’s most famous piece, but there are other notable works on the display that you cannot miss such as ‘Anxiety’ and ‘The Girls On The Bridge’.

Royal Palace

The official residence of the Norwegian royal family is located in Oslo, and you can gain access to the Royal Palace for an unforgettable tour.

It was built in 1849, and currently, the King and Queen reside here. It is only open to the public during the summer months, so we recommend planning accordingly if you want to visit - it is definitely worth it!

Fjords

A trip to Norway is not complete without seeing the breathtaking fjords. With over 100 fjords in Norway, you can’t see them all, but they run through most of the country so they are fairly easy to get to from any point.

One of the best ways to see the fjords is on a ferry ride. This is a fun way to get around and the views along the way are breathtaking.

Arctic Cathedral

If you are in the Arctic Circle, you have to see the Arctic Cathedral, which is a modern church structure that opened in 1965.

This is a popular attraction for a reason, with its unique design and peaceful setting. It is set against the backdrop of the mountains, which is especially stunning in winter with the addition of snow.

Bergen

If you are after a peaceful escape, look no further than the quaint city of Bergen.

The southwestern city is situated among fjords and mountains and sits along the water. The buildings are colorful and charming, making Bergen a scenic place to spend a few days.

We suggest spending your time there at leisure or taking in some of the sights like Bryggen wharf, Fantoft Stave Church, and more.

Vigeland Park

The exceptional work of Gustav Vigeland can be admired in Vigeland Park, a must-see outdoor exhibition of over 200 sculptures by the famous sculptor.

This is one of the most popular attractions in Norway, and visitors can enter any time of the day at no cost.

Oslo Opera House

To enjoy shows from the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet and take in the best of Norwegian arts and culture, you should visit the famous Oslo Opera House.

You can enjoy endless forms of entertainment all year round, including ballet, opera, dance, music, and concerts.

The unusual, futuristic building itself is an attraction, and it is free to enter and admire the architecture if you do not have tickets to a show.

Journey Through Norway

Picturesque fjords, fascinating museums, iconic artwork, cultural shows and events, and the Northern Lights are just a few of the incredible features that Norway has to offer travelers.

This Nordic country is a perfect blend of culture and nature, making it one of the most unique European destinations to visit.
