On Friday, Disney officials announced that the Cirque du Soleil acrobatic show La Nouba will close following its final performance on Dec. 31, 2017.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the Disney-exclusive La Nouba show has been a major attraction at Disney Springs since 1998, but theme park officials have announced it will be permanently closed at the end of the year.
Since its opening in 1998, La Nouba has put on more than 8,500 performances to date and hosted more than 10 million guests. The live shows have been held inside a custom-designed circus-tent inspired theater. Disney officials have not announced what will become of the theater.
Over the last 19 years, La Nouba has featured acts which include break dancers, high wire walkers, jugglers and many other forms of entertainment.
"We are incredibly proud of the success that La Nouba has had for nearly two decades," Cirque du Soleil senior vice president Jerry Nadal. "We want to thank Walt Disney World for a wonderful relationship over the years. We look forward to announcing what's next for Cirque du Soleil."
While Disney officials announced the closing Friday, they have not said what attraction will replace La Nouba once it closes. Both sides remain steadfast in the strong relationship between Disney and Cirque du Soleil moving forward.
