Club Med, the pioneer of the all-inclusive resort concept, is opening sales for their newest Caribbean resort, Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda, a $100 million project set to open in December 2019. Located in the secluded paradise of Miches on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic, this will be the very first operating resort in the soon-to-be-developed region.
At 93 acres, Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda is Club Med's biggest project of its type in the Caribbean in the past 40 years. It will be the first full Exclusive Collection resort in the Americas, acting as the new flagship of the dedicated line in the region, featuring:
-One Resort with Four Boutique Villages: A new concept to the brand's Exclusive Collection, the resort will feature four boutique villages in order to create a more personalized, customizable and intimate experience catered to each guest.
Each village presents its own unique environment, activities and accommodations: Archipelago, a sophisticated oceanfront sanctuary exclusively for adults; Caribbean Paradise, the alluring heart of the resort, full of lush tropical gardens and colorful surprises; Emerald Jungle, a relaxing eco-chic retreat featuring Club Med's Zen Oasis concept, an adults-exclusive escape designed with serenity, tranquility and health in mind; and Explorer Cove, a dynamic refuge specifically created for families, where the young and the young-at-heart to share and celebrate the day's discoveries.
-Eco-Friendly Elements: An eco-chic haven, Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda will devote its design, activities and elements to the surrounding region. As Miches is a pristine haven in a lush Dominican palm grove, Club Med's goal is to keep as much of its ecological essence as possible so guests who visit the resort understand its natural beauty.
For example, the resort will enact a tree re-planting program, where every tree removed in construction will be re-planted in or around the resort area, offer educational mini-sessions and a community garden for guests to learn about gardening, recycling and other sustainable actions, and enact a no plastic straw initiative as part of Club Med's global commitment to eliminate single-use plastics from all of its resorts.
-Local Wonders: In addition to Club Med's world-class activities, dining options, amenities, and a wide array of included land and water sports on property, Miches' local wonders will provide various opportunities for guests of Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda to discover new breathtaking sights and activities.
Some of the destination's top hotspots include: Laguna Limón, a nature reserve with stunning waterfalls; Samana Bay, a bay featuring protected islands with native flora, wildlife, and a known site for whale watching; and Montaña Redonda, a "rounded mountain" with 360-degree panoramic views of the surrounding flourishing landscape, known for its photo-famous swing.
