More Details Emerge About Disney's Star Wars Hotel

Not much is known about Disney’s much-anticipated new Star Wars Hotel, which promises to be a fully immersive experience—AKA don your best Chewbacca gear and board a starship for a galaxy far, far away.
Although concept art and videos for the new hotel were released earlier this year, the finer details such as number of rooms, pricing and opening date remain sparse.
In May, Disney revealed that the new hotel will be located on the south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios and it will “seamlessly” connect to the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land at the park, which is scheduled to open in 2019. Guests staying at the hotel will enjoy a private entrance to the park.
Now, with the help of permits filed with the South Florida Water Management District (and the eagle-eye reporting by WDW News Today,) more specific details are emerging about the new hotel.
For one, the plans reveal that guests will drive to the hotel’s entrance with access from the Hollywood Studios parking lot, crossing a drainage canal before reaching the hotel. The plans also suggest there will be limited parking on site, which could mean the hotel will opt to offer only valet parking.
The plans also indicate the property will be constructed in a rectangular design, supporting rumors that have been circulating that the hotel will be a boutique-style accommodation.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the plans indicate that a path will allow guests to enter the Disney’s Hollywood Studios somewhere between the Millennium Falcon and Battle Escape attractions.
The new hotel was first announced by Disney Parks & Resorts chairman Bob Chapek at the D23 Expo fan event at Disneyland last July, confirming a rumor that had been circulating a while.
“It’s unlike anything that exists today,” said Chapek. “From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story. You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100 percent immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”
