Medical marijuana may have been legalized in Florida, but Disney World has banned the federally controlled substance from all of its properties and theme parks.
According to NBC Miami, the resort's official rules page of was recently changed to include marijuana. It was previously covered in the illegal substance part of the rules, but since its legalization, it had to be specifically addressed.
"Although some states have legalized marijuana for medicinal or recreational use, marijuana remains illegal under federal law," a Disney spokesperson told WESH 2 News. "We are revising our rules to clarify that marijuana is not permitted on our property."
The addition of marijuana to the list of prohibited items comes after the Florida government passed Amendment 2 in November, which allowed the state Department of Health to establish new rules for Florida's medical marijuana program.

One of the attorneys who fought for the legalization of medical marijuana, Matt Morgan, told local media outlets that while he understands Disney's point of view, he doesn't believe people should be punished for something that is legal in the state.
"To the extent that they'd go through someone's personal belongings to search for that, I think that's when the public might start having an issue with it, Morgan said.
"All businesses are going to have to adapt and amend with society as this issue plays out."
