Latest Travel Impact of Winter Storm Maya

While the storm systems impact the United States this week have come and gone, the residual impact of the winter weather is still being felt at airports hit the hardest.
According to FlightAware.com, over 440 flights within, into or out of the U.S. were canceled Wednesday morning and another 420-plus flights were delayed. San Francisco International and Boston Logan international airports boasted the most cancellations.

The snow, ice and rain hitting the Midwest and Northeast thanks to Winter Storm Maya continue to impact travel, with major airports in each area reporting delays and cancellations.
According to FlightAware.com, over 2.160 flights within, into or out of the United States were canceled Tuesday afternoon and another 2,860-plus flights were delayed.

Some of the busiest airports impacted by the storms include New York’s LaGuardia and JFK, Chicago’s Midway and O’Hare, Boston’s Logan International, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County and many more.
Travelers are being advised to call their airlines before leaving for the airport.

Winter Storm Maya continues to impact travel throughout the Midwest and Northeast Tuesday morning, causing a wet morning commute for many and leaving several northern regions dealing with ice and snow.
According to FlightAware.com, over 1,600 flights within, into or out of the United States were canceled Tuesday morning and another 180-plus flights were delayed. Most airlines that issued travel waivers have not extended them past Tuesday, but that will change as the day progresses.

In addition to the storms in the Midwest and Northeast, the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii are also dealing with heavy snow and low temperatures, respectively. The airports impacted most by the storm include New York’s LaGuardia, Chicago’s O’Hare, Seattle-Tacoma and Boston’s Logan International.

Two winter storms systems continue to impact the United States in the Northwest and across the Midwest/Northeast, leaving flights canceled and roads covered in snow and ice.
According to FlightAware.com, over 650 flights within, into or out of the U.S. were canceled Monday and another 2,700-plus flights were delayed. Airlines continue to waive change fees for passengers scheduled to fly to or from impacted airports.
The airports reporting the most weather-related delays and cancellations include Seattle-Tacoma International, Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International, Chicago Midway International and Chicago O'Hare International.

After disrupting travel in the Northwest over the weekend, Winter Storm Maya has moved into the Midwest and Northeast Monday and will continue to impact the regions with snow, freezing rain and winds through Wednesday.
According to Weather.com, Winter Storm Maya brought heavy snow to the West Sunday and spread freezing drizzle into the Plains Monday morning, leaving major highways and residential roads covered in ice.
The snow has also moved into the Northeast, with winter storm watches being issued from the Appalachians to northern Pennsylvania, central New York and the Hudson Valley to New England, including much of the Boston metro area.

Watches were also in effect in parts of Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin, including the Detroit and Minneapolis-St. Paul metro areas.
According to FlightAware.com, over 420 flights within, into or out of the United States were canceled Monday morning and another 480-plus flights were delayed. As a result, several airlines have started issuing travel waivers.
American, Delta, Southwest and United have all started waiving change fees in the Northeast for customers traveling to, from or through the affected cities through Tuesday. Passengers will be able to make a one-time change to their travel plans without incurring a fee.
To be eligible for the waived change fee, customers must travel by February 15.
