On Tuesday, a woman was arrested on a JetBlue flight for allegedly setting fire to two blankets and a control panel.
According to FoxNews.com, the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced Wednesday that JetBlue passenger Idializ Gomez used a personal lighter to ignite a fire to the blankets and the control panel during JetBlue Flight 745 from New York City to Puerto Rico.
When the plane landed at Mercedita Airport in Ponce, Puerto Rico, the female passenger was arrested and charged with destruction of aircraft or aircraft facilities. Authorities are still unclear about the motive behind the incident.
According to United States federal regulators, passengers are permitted to carry one lighter in their carry-on luggage. JetBlue officials said they wouldn't comment on the incident while an investigation was currently ongoing.
Earlier this year, an attendant on an American Airlines flight was arrested after he allegedly started a fire in the bathroom of the plane, claimed he discovered it and then extinguished the blaze.
