American Cruise Lines is building three new ships, bringing the total number of new ships on its orderbook to seven.
The new vessels, which are all being built by Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Maryland, are slated for delivery by the end of 2026. Six will be Project Blue series ships, while one will be an American Riverboat.
In 2025, the cruise line plans to operate 21 ships. Then, in 2026, its fleet will grow to 24 ships.
“The domestic cruise industry is the healthiest it has ever been,” says Charles B. Robertson, president and chief executive officer of American Cruise Lines.
“Demand for modern river products, new small ships and unique exploration in the U.S.A. continues to grow. That demand is powered by destinations brimming with history and ships that provide the best onboard experience in the world.”
Earlier this year, American Cruise Line purchased four vessels from the now-shuttered American Queen Voyages. However, it later announced that it had decided to scrap two of those ships, and was still trying to decide what to do with the third.
