AmaWaterways has debuted the 170-guest AmaViola, sister ship to AmaStella launched earlier this year, complete with family-friendly accommodations ahead of its sailings with Adventures by Disney. River cruising has been predominantly geared towards couples until recently, but this vessel conveniently opens up the travel to multi-generations as does an extension of the partnership with Disney through 2017.

The new riverboat accordingly features six sets of connecting cabins to sleep a total of five thanks to one of the room's convertible sofa-bed configurations. Plus, there are four suites that can themselves accommodate up to four guests. This makes the AmaViola ideal not just for families but also larger groups.

"The debut of our brand new AmaViola builds on the momentum and tremendous feedback we have already seen since launching our AmaStella in March," said Kristin Karst, Executive Vice President and Co-owner of AmaWaterways. "Part of what makes AmaWaterways so unique to the industry is our careful pace in developing fresh design concepts on the rivers. It is this mindset that truly allows our team to deliver innovative features for our guests, and they will see this firsthand with the AmaViola."
Besides adjoining accommodations, the AmaViola touts a large quantity of twin-balcony cabins that come with a French and outside balcony, and all guest rooms feature the line's Entertainment on Demand system for free internet access and a movie and music library. Also complimentary onboard are wine, beer and soft drinks at lunch and dinner and daily bottled water in all staterooms. Public spaces include fitness rooms, a salon, massage areas, as well as The Chef's Table specialty restaurant and a sun deck and pool with a swim-up bar.

Adventures by Disney has also announced that it will expand its river cruise program through 2017 with more Danube River and new Rhine River cruises in continuing partnership with AmaWaterways. Rhine river cruises will sail aboard the new 2017 AmaKristina, also customized with family accommodations such as connecting cabins.
The 7-night Rhine itinerary will visit France, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands and highlight experiences like a a toboggan ride in the Black Forest, horseback riding in the Alsace Region, clog painting in Holland and biking in Germany. Although it's with a different division of the company, these itineraries effectively expand Disney Cruise Line offerings from the oceans to the rivers.
