Acapulco Assures Safety of Spring Breakers

The Acapulco Destination Marketing Office said an agreement has been signed by officials of the Acapulco City Hall, the Guerrero State Government and the Mexico Attorney General, on substantial efforts being made to ensure the safety of students and all travelers to Acapulco during the 2009 "spring break" vacation period. Furthermore, Mayor Manuel Anorve Banos has committed to double the city's resources and efforts to ensure that all tourist areas within the city remain clean, well lit, and safeguarded by law enforcement authorities. General Serafín Valdés Martínez, Secretary of Highway Safety, also confirmed that the police will provide security for our streets and beaches around the clock in three shifts and in coordination with the Mexico Attorney General and the Secretariat of Public Safety. Additionally, the Acapulco Destination Marketing Office is actively involved and in constant communication with the US and Canadian consulates.
