It's no secret that the rest of the world considers Americans to be a bit curvier than people from other countries. But we had no idea as to some of the other stereotypes the rest of the world is happy to lob our way.
Neatorama spotted the following video that takes a whimsical look at Americans from the vantage point of various students at the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan.
The video was uploaded to YouTube by user SW Yoon on June 9, and already has over 270,000 views as of this writing.
Now you can take a look for yourself, but we have to warn that there are some fairly critical things uttered in the next few minutes.
But we know you can handle it. Americans have thick skin after all, the kind cultivated by years of McDonald's, steak, nachos, Big Gulps … and now we are hungry again:
Fat jokes: Fortunately those are taken care of right away. And, to be fair, most of these people are really rather polite about the whole thing.
Yet there are some interesting thoughts to consider throughout the rest of the video.
When considering the good news/bad news of a given situation, you always take the bad first.
According to some, Americans will eat at McDonald's at every opportunity, are loud and brash, "stingy," have questionable style and are "a bit loud, as well."
Also, we love to drink, which is a new stereotype we had no idea belonged to this country and we have no idea what you are talking about.
Now the students in the video had some rather awesome things to say as well, such as that we are a jovial mass that is not wanting in confidence.
But really, the only thing you have to consider is the moment Americans are labeled to have "impressive muscular development" as well as a "sexy physique."
You are welcome, America. You can most likely thank me for that stereotype.
