William Shatner will boldly go where no one has gone before - largely because where he is headed is an inaugural comic con in Silicon Valley.
Silicon Valley Comic Con, a convention started by Steve Wozniak, will touch down at the San Jose Convention Center from March 18-20, 2016.
The big news, via a press release (h/t CNET), is that the man renowned for his captain skills and his ability to Priceline negotiate - William Shatner - will host "Star Trek" festivities.
Get ready for all the fun that comes in tandem with hilariously classic syncopated speech patterns.
If you are wondering what all the hullabaloo is about, the convention will be a meeting ground for fans who enjoy "pop culture and technology." That roughly encompasses all of mankind, we are sure.
The release does offer some specifics: "SVCC will bring top celebrities, film, TV, independent artists, comic books, cosplay, video games, music and technology to the San Jose Convention Center."
As for Shatner, he is bringing his celebrity to town to commemorate the 50th anniversary of "Star Trek."
Via the release, Shatner had this to say: "It's only logical to celebrate the 50th anniversary of 'Star Trek' alongside technology that was just science fiction when 'Star Trek' first began to broadcast. I'm looking forward to participating in the inaugural Silicon Valley Comic Con."
Wozniak offered his thought on adding yet another celebrity to the proceedings in 2016: "Not only did 'Star Trek' captivate a legion of science fiction lovers, it also inspired generations of engineers, scientists, directors, writers and artists."
The 65-year-old tech guru continued, "Just like 'Star Trek,' Silicon Valley Comic Con will bridge the gap between entertainment and technology. We have many more events and surprises planned, so fans should grab their tickets now to join all the fun."
Prices start at $25 for the recently added Friday "Preview Night." After that, adults will pay $50 per day or $99 for a three-day pass. Those 12 and under will get in for prices ranging from $10 to $39.
