Have you participated in the cruise duck craze?

It’s a phenomenon among cruise passengers who either hide or find a rubber duck hidden somewhere on a cruise ship during voyages.

But it won’t be happening anymore on one major cruise line.

Disney Cruise Line (DCL) has instituted a new mandate that discourages the practice, no matter how fun, whimsical or innocent it might seem. In an odd twist on a scavenger hunt, guests collect the rubber ducks in what has become something of a badge of honor.

Disney does not necessarily prohibit the practice; it is just discouraged.

“According to our policy, guests are allowed to bring rubber ducks onboard,” a DCL spokesperson said. "However, it's important to note that pool toys, including rubber ducks, are not permitted to be used in the pools."

"Additionally, we kindly request that guests are not allowed to hide items such as rubber ducks in public areas or staterooms," the DCL statement continued.

No other details from Disney have been announced.

The phenomenon started on a Carnival ship six years ago and has spread to most cruise lines. The fad has not officially been prohibited by any cruise line.

“Many of the crew love finding the ducks and have them in their cabins as they bring them cheer,” said John Heald, Carnival Cruise Line brand ambassador. “We have absolutely no problem with guests leaving them as we do think it’s fun.”

Sorry, rubber ducky. But when it comes to Disney Cruise Line, you are not the one.

Apologies to Kermit.
