Halloween Horror Nights found success in the past with movie-based attractions, and the 2018 edition of the event at Universal Studios Hollywood will feature a maze themed after The First Purge.
Universal Hollywood based its all-new maze on the movie which introduces horror fans to the country's inaugural government-sanctioned lawlessness, which makes all crime legal once a year for 12 hours.
The First Purge maze opens with the rest of Halloween Horror Nights on September 14 and aligns with the film in establishing the motives that launched the country into chaos. The Purge calls for the suspension of all police, fire and emergency services.
Guests entering the maze in Southern California will be at the heart of a controversial sociological experiment, and they must use luck and speed to outsmart the anarchy of an area filled with vigilantes looking to commit unspeakable crimes.
Universal Hollywood's 2018 edition of Halloween Horror Nights will feature an all-new slate of unrivaled mazes, frightful scare zones and a fully re-imagined Terror Tram experience themed to the horror genre's most definitive properties.
For travel agents, vacation packages are on sale for this year's Halloween Horror Nights, with prices starting at $215 per adult, per night. The packages include four-night hotel accommodations, park-to-park daytime admission to all three theme parks, admission to the events and more.
Halloween Horror Nights starts on September 14 and runs on select nights through November 3. For more information or to book tickets for the terrifying showcase, reach out to your local travel agent.
