Disney World Resort and Disney Vacation Club announced plans to refresh the
cabin hideaways at the Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.
The proposal includes the construction of more than 350 new
cabins across the 750-acre property to replace the existing buildings at the
resort, with a focus on more energy-efficient features.
The proposed cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort &
Campground will combine design concepts inspired by the idyllic setting and
elements of the property’s unique culture and heritage.
“For more than 50 years, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
& Campground has offered guests the opportunity to explore nature with
their loved ones while staying in the heart of Walt Disney World Resort,” Disney
Vacation Club senior vice president Bill Diercksen said.
Each stand-alone cabin would offer accommodations for up to
six adults and feature a bedroom, bathroom, living room, full kitchen and
private patio. Disney also revealed that a select number of cabins would be
dog-friendly.
Disney officials said the cabins are expected to open to the
general public in 2024.
“We’re excited to continue to build upon the resort’s rich
legacy and elevate the cabin experience for our members and all guests to enjoy
for years to come,” Diercksen continued.
In addition to new cabins, the Fort Wilderness Resort &
Campground overhaul proposal includes pool and walking trail enhancements, as
well as new dining experiences at Trail’s End Restaurant and Crockett’s Tavern.
As with all Disney Vacation Club resorts, the proposed
cabins will remain open for reservations to all guests, including those who are
not members, based on availability.
