Doppleganger on Ryanair Flight

2/26
When Neil Thomas Douglas boarded a Ryanair flight in 2015 to Galway, he found a guy sitting in his seat that looked exactly like him. Douglas had found his doppelganger and the newfound 'twins' had a laugh and took a selfie.

The story doesn't end there. Upon arriving at his hotel in Galway, who does Douglas find? His doppelganger staying at the same hotel! The universe must have wanted these two to meet because later that night Douglas ran into the same man again at the pub. They had another laugh, and a pint, of course.

Canadians Host 17,000 Passengers After 9/11 Attacks

3/26
September 11, 2001, was one of the most tragic moments in American history, and yet, Canada stepped up to help its neighbor to the south. When the planes hit the Towers, international passengers heading to New York were rerouted to Canada's maritime provinces. Nearly 4,300 passengers and crew members landed in St. John's, while 17,000 passengers were stranded over Newfoundland and Labrador in small cities and towns like Deer Lake and Stephenville.

Stranded and scared, the Canadian towns stepped up to help what they called "plane people." The townsfolk gave the plane people shelter, fed them hot meals, set up makeshift beauty salons, went on pharmacy runs, and gave choir concerts over the days and weeks the people were stranded in Canada.

TikTok dance challenges have been incredibly popular during the quarantine, but one Youtuber has long known that there is power in dancing when you're stuck somewhere you don't necessarily want to be. Faced with an uncomfortable night sleeping in an airport, Mazooji said, "I did what makes me happiest...DANCE!!!!"

Dad Filmed His Face Instead of Vegas

7/26
Technology isn't always the easiest to understand (as we all know trying to figure out Zoom), but one dad dropped the ball in a humorous way in 2015 trying to capture Las Vegas with his son's GoPro. Instead of catching the lights of The Strip, Joseph Griffin only captured his own face.

Joseph Griffin gained internet notoriety after his own son uploaded a Youtube video of his dad using the GoPro, accidentally, on selfie mode during the whole trip to Vegas. Close-up selfies were about all that Griffin managed to capture, including a few funny lines like, "There's the Trump Tower, same color as his hair."

In 2017, James Lloyd was just trying to find a flight from Christchurch, New Zealand, to London, England, through Skyscanner when he came upon one flight option that included a 47-year layover in Bangkok. Five decades in Bangkok didn't seem ideal, so Lloyd reached out to Skyscanner on Facebook saying, "Just wondering what you'd recommend I do during the 47-year layover your website has suggested?"

Jen, a Skyscanner representative replied, "Unless you're a huge fan of The Terminal, I'd probably recommend spending those years outside of the airport, so here are a few suggestions: Missed Songkran but you've got another 46 years to enjoy it." She also suggested Lloyd "become a Tai Chi expert in Lumpini Park" and if he doesn't mind heights, "The Moon Bar is pretty good and it's open until 1am so you could spend a good chunk of time there."

WestJet's April Fool's Joke

11/26
We all love a good joke, and WestJet may have created the best airline joke in 2012. The airline created an advertising video called #KargoKids which was described by the airline as "an exciting new program allowing guests to travel on select child-free flights, creating a quieter and more relaxing inflight experience, while children travel in a 'special VIP' area of the aircraft."

The video showed the airline placing kids in the actual cargo section of planes so their parents and other customers could enjoy a quiet flight. Don't worry, parents, this was all a joke. The airline released it on April Fool's Day.

A little while later, Murray unexpectedly showed up to the bachelor party's dining room area to offer some advice to the groom. Our favorite bit is when Murray said, "Take that person and travel around the world. Buy a plane ticket for the two of you to travel all around the world, and go to places that are hard to go to and hard to get out of. And if when you come back to JFK, when you land in JFK, and you're still in love with that person, get married at the airport."

The new design looked good until the aircraft's emergency door was opened and slid to the side. Then the second 'o' in "Cook's" became a 'c,' which was not the message Thomas Cook Airlines was trying to share.

In realizing their mistake, the airline told The Sun: "It goes without saying it's an accident, but it is one way to highlight where the emergency exit is."

Pilot Creates

Testing out an aircraft engine for three hours in the sky is not the most exciting experience, so one pilot decided to have some fun. While those on the ground couldn't see this message, the pilot's colleagues could. Talk about secret --silly -- messages.

Unable to be together on their travels, the couple posed strategically so they could splice their images together from different parts of the world in an effort to feel closer to one another. She told Aguilar how disappointed her daughter was, and he saw an opportunity to step in and help turn Beatrice's birthday around. Aguilar texted Steven Florkiewicz, director of guest relations, who used his artistic capabilities to create something very special for Beatrice: "a personalized Hamilton playbill with Beatrice's name on it instead of Hamilton's and replace the silhouette with that of an adolescent girl in a thematic dress." The hotel added a patriotic-themed cake and sent it along with the framed playbill to the room.

Beatrice loved the gift so much, her mother told Forbes: "My daughter crawled into bed holding the picture. She curled up and she had it under the covers with her like a stuffed animal."
