A record-high 7.6 million passengers sailed out of Port Canaveral in fiscal year 2024, a 12 percent increase from last year.
That’s according to John Murray, the chief executive officer of the Canaveral Port Authority. On Wednesday, Murray gave his annual “State of the Port” address to nearly 250 business and community leaders, elected officials and port partners.
The port, located on Florida’s Atlantic Coast about an hour east of Orlando, earned $191 million in total revenue, with $156 million of that coming from cruise operations. In fiscal year 2024, the port recorded 13 homeported cruise ships, 911 cruise ship calls and 914,000 park vehicles.
Within the last year, the port added new parking facilities and upgraded its parking processing system.
“Cruise continues to be a significant segment of our business portfolio with some of the newest and largest ships in the world based at Port Canaveral,” says Murray. “This speaks volumes to the confidence our cruise partners have in our ability to consistently deliver exceptional results for their guests.”
In fiscal year 2025, the port expects to host 16 homeported cruise ships and welcome 8.4 million passengers. It’s projection 1,030 ship calls. For the first time, Princess Cruises and Celebrity Cruises, will have ships homeporting at Port Canaveral.
